Position Overview:
Joining our operations team in Stoney Creek, Ontario, the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance systems and testing procedures and facilitating the effectiveness of the Quality team in meeting its objectives; by providing guidance, instruction, leadership and motivation in monitoring quality, and ensuring compliance with quality and industry standards. This role is actively involved in identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and ensures internal quality system standards – structural, mechanical, electrical - are upheld via auditing, procedure writing corrective actions and reporting.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the Quality Assurance team in daily objectives, activities, and assignments, addressing issues as they arise
- Track, analyze and regularly report to the COO on observations and audit data, including opportunities for continuous improvement of quality management execution.
- Collaborate with key members of the Operations team to develop and implement the Quality Assurance Plan
- Conduct and document internal audits and inspections of structural, mechanical and electrical components to ensure compliance with quality standards and review and disposition non-conformance reports.
- Ensure a positive and supportive approach when dealing with unexpected issues.
- Support and Monitor customer feedback and client and internal corrective action investigations.
- Work with the procurement team to ensure vendors adhere to project specifications
- Maintain safe work practices in accordance with EHS policies, the OHSA and Regulations.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned to meet Operational objectives.
- Understand contract specifications and work with the project teams to provide guidance, identify areas of risk and develop mitigation plans, ensuring quality standards align with the project scope and the Quality Assurance Plan,
- Develop resources and conduct training for staff on quality assurance processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience developing quality assurance plans.
- Excellent understanding and interpretation of building codes: mechanical, electrical, and related federal and provincial regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of various engineering systems, principles, and practices.
- 8+ years of experience with quality control accountability, in either manufacturing or construction related to commercial or healthcare buildings
- Ability to monitor project progress to ensure timely inspections.
- Ability to influence project planning and sequencing.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and writing of procedures and manuals.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications
- Ability to identify quality risks associated with the project(s).
- Experience leading internal quality assessments.
- 3+ years in a leadership capacity overseeing a team.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, specializing in civil or mechanical engineering.
- Advanced knowledge of the construction industry; understands specifications, drawings, methods, and procedures.
Other Requirements:
- Be self-motivated with a positive attitude and the ability to multi-task.
- Strong presentation, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- You have strong technical aptitude, with knowledge of MS Office applications (including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word) as well as VDC software
- Travel to customer and supplier locations as required.
