Job Description

QA Automation Lead

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our staffing practice has an opening for a QA Tea Lead with experience with implementing testing strategies with development teams, Automation experience (i.e. Selenium, Cucumber, etc), Python/Java programming experience, exposure to fixed income/equities, and release management to place at our client, a top Financial Institution.

  • Location: Downtown Toronto (currently 3 days/week onsite)
  • Start Date: July 2023
  • Terms: 1-year contract rolling (3-year project)

Key Qualifications:

  • Review test scenarios/test cases prepared by the QA team for functional testing, system integration testing
  • Participant scrum calls and prepare necessary documentation related to testing status and platform readiness assessments
  • Manage the delivery of testing works cross flows and functionalities on the financial platform
  • Interact with the development team to design the test plan and test scenarios for critical deliveries
  • Coordinate between the development team and QA team in both the test planning phase and the active testing cycle
  • Perform functional, performance, and other types of tests and impact analysis as determined in the test planning process.
  • Responsible for testing scenario sign-offs and test result sign-offs
  • Assist in automation strategy and improve the automation penetration ratio


Key Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of automation testing techniques
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and familiarity with different methodologies (waterfall, agile)
  • Experience with defect reporting and tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Test planning skills, requirements analysis, test scenarios design
  • Understanding the variety of financial products: Equity, Fixed Income, FX, Credit Derivatives, Interest Rate Derivatives, OTC
  • Knowledge of Windows/ Linux platforms
  • Working knowledge of Python, NoSQL, Java
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Minimum 8 years of QA Testing experience in large-scale business and technical testing in a global financial firm
  • Experience managing staff / vendors in global team
  • Highly self-motivated and detail-orientated person
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ready to face new challenges/change and raise new ideas
  • Hands-on SQL skills and basic technical troubleshooting skills
