Job Description
What You Will Do


Gannett Fleming is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Track Engineer, Transit & Rail, to oversee and manage track engineering projects in the transit and rail industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for client and design-team management, coordinating planning and design processes, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. As the Project Manager, you will utilize your technical expertise to coordinate planning, design, and construction activities. This includes developing plans, specifications, and construction estimate packages while applying advanced skills in value engineering, cost estimating, risk assessment, and scheduling. Your role as a subject matter expert will involve providing expert opinions, delivering high-level reports, and presenting to diverse stakeholders.


In addition to technical proficiency, strong management and leadership skills are essential. You will drive project completion by effectively communicating and leading individuals and multidisciplinary groups. Serving as a primary point of contact, you will establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication channels and successful collaboration.


In the capacity of Project Manager, you will lead and oversee major commuter rail transit projects, taking full responsibility for client and design-team management across light rail, subway, and commuter rail projects. This includes managing the preparation of plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates while organizing and supervising project teams to ensure optimal contract performance.


Overall, your role will be instrumental in delivering high-quality rail transportation projects within specified timelines and budgets, meeting the satisfaction of clients. Your recognized authority and expertise will contribute to planning and developing projects with a significant impact on major company programs.


Responsibilities


  • Quality Assurance and Control: Execute thorough quality review processes for project submittals to maintain high standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Lead track infrastructure design and development for various transit systems, including urban transit, intercity transit, and heavy rail.
  • Timely Project Delivery: Manage and deliver high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and contractors to facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Actively manage the client's budget, schedule, and program for efficient resource allocation and adherence to project timelines.
  • Full Managerial Responsibility: Manage all aspects of the project, including scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control, and cash management.
  • Project Coordination and Management: Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams and data environments to ensure efficient collaboration.


Education | Experience:


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited University (Civil Engineering preferred);
  • Autodesk Civil3D and Bentley OpenRail experience preferred. MicroStation and InRoads/Rail Track (InRail) experience is an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of Class I Railways, LRT, or , including rail alignments, rail yards, special trackwork, junctions, and facilities;
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Local Agency Codes and Standards;
  • 10+ years’ progressive experience in planning, designing, managing, and implementing rail and transit-related projects;
  • Excellent written and verbal and communications skills; and
  • Understanding of track design relationships with systems engineering, drainage/SWM, and utilities;
  • Professional Engineer Designation (P. Eng.) is required;
