Banister Pipelines Limited Partnership (Banister) is a leading pipeline construction company based in Nisku, Alberta servicing the Canadian market since 1948. Banister is part of the Quanta Services group of companies which is the leading specialty contractor with the largest and most skilled workforce in North America – providing fully integrated solutions for the electric power, pipeline industrial and communication industries.
Banister is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Technical Lead to work on a major construction project located near Sarnia, Ontario. This is a full time temporary position with an anticipated project duration from June 2023 to November 2023.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. In order to be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks' completion.
Responsibilities
This is a field-based role reportingto the Project Manager while supporting the Superintendent and construction teams. The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring the project is planned, scheduled, executed, monitored and tracked efficiently.A list of the Project Engineer’s key responsibilities are as follows:
- Maintain overall project schedule and provide weekly updates.
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager to ensure all contractual obligations are upheld.
- Support the project safety, environment and quality teams with technical guidance, as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Liaise with client’s representatives to resolve technical issues including preparation and submission of requests for information (RFIs).
- Maintain effective working relationships with our client, subcontractors, vendors and other employees.
- Track, monitor and report daily progress including production, costs and subcontractor performance.
- Develop daily work plans in consultation with site supervisory personnel
- Ensure all drawings, specifications and work plans are current and available to all field supervision.
- Provide technical assistance to Banister’s supervision team and support all project technical reporting requirements.
- Identify and track changes to the scope of work and provide supporting documentation for change management.
- Develop and refine all technical construction plans for client review, approval and distribution to field supervision.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical Engineering Diploma is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
- 5 - 10 years' of experience as a Project Coordinator, Project Engineer or Project Manager in the Construction Industry (Pipeline construction preferred)
