Project Director - Fifo Francophone Africa

EO Consulting has been selected y an International Mining company to source an experienced Project Director for their operations in Francophone Africa.

The role:

Responsible for the successful overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, completion and delivery of the mining project with respect to all areas of work, in accordance with the business objectives and the highest standards in terms of safety, cost, schedule, quality and performance expectations for the project.

The Project Director shall also be accountable for further development and studies and lead recommendations for further improvements, expansions and developments.

Tasks & responsibilities:

The Project Director initially will be responsible for the following:

-Assist with the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables

-Define and Recruit appropriate Owners team personnel

-Provide direction and support to the project team

-Assess project compliance

-Develop the Project Implementation Plan / Project Execution Plan and Early works program

-Drive the project timeline

- Ensure that HSES plans are in place and ensure compliance by all stakeholders

-Develop, maintain and monitor the risk register, in particular those risks which have high inherent risk, and ensure that mitigation strategies are identified, maintained and monitored.

-Secure EPC/M contracts

-Deliver the FEED

-Maintain key stakeholder relationships

Qualifications & experience

-Tertiary education – Degree / Bachelor of sciences in an appropriate engineering or construction discipline

-Strong technical expertise in project development and implementation over a broad range of applicable disciplines (process, E&I, mechanical, structural, civil and project management (in particular in areas of rail, port and mining infrastructure)

-Experience of working with contractors from a variety of cultures and backgrounds and in a variety of disciplines in Africa

-Bilingual French - English

-Extensive experience in project budget creation and control & project tender process

-Minimum of 10+ years in senior project management role

-Owner’s team experience
