About AdvEn:
AdvEn Industries Inc. is a high-end materials technology developer specializing in the commercialization of clean technologies that manufacture high value-added materials from bitumen-derived refinery residues. We are currently building a plant in Nisku, which also houses the Operations Leadership and an advanced Research and Development laboratory. More than twenty staff from scientists to shift workers operate from this location. The company’s head office is in Calgary, Canada, which connects to the Nisku operation both in-person and virtually.
The Role:
We are currently seeking a full-time Production Plant Operator for our new facility based in Nisku, Alberta. Reporting to the Plant Operations Manager, this position will be responsible for safely maximizing production of quality products by monitoring plant equipment, performing basic repairs and assessing when more complex repairs are required. The Plant Production Operator will be tasked with maintaining the safe operations of all equipment and for the effectiveness of the production line. This will be a hands-on position that requires a good eye for detail and previous work experience in a similar role.
Principal Accountabilities:
· Perform basic mechanical repairs, assist and/or schedule more complex mechanical repairs as required
· Monitor and control the operations of equipment and machines on the production line
· Maintain efficient and effective performance while ensuring safe working conditions
· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance
· Maintain a clean and safe workplace
· Assist with other general warehouse duties as required
· Perform any other duties or functions as requested by Operations Manager
· Provide assistance, coaching, on the job training and assist new employees
Desired Qualifications:
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
· Must have minimum 3 years experience in a Plant Operator type role
· Must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic mechanical repairs and maintenance in a similar setting
· Prior experience working with large, heavy machinery, preferred
· Attention to details and willingness to learn
· Understand instructions and then put them into practice
· Motivated to deliver and take pride in good workmanship
· Dedicated to the collective wellbeing of the company, including safety of fellow workers and plant operations
· Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
· The ability to work in a team environment
· Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Education/Experience Requirements:
· Successfully completed High School
· Years of Experience Required: 3 years of experience in a Plant Operator (or similar role)
Working Conditions:
· Production plant, subject to significant heat and noise
· Infrequent weekend or evening work may be expected
· AdvEn’s operations are paperless therefore this role will require someone who is technologically proficient and computer-savvy
Physical and Additional Requirements:
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, kneel occasionally, repetitive movements
· Hardworking with a strong work ethic
· Takes direction well, work closely with Operations Manager
· Demonstrate a willingness to work safely in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
· Safety-first mindset
· Must have a valid class 5 license with own vehicle
