THE POSITION:
Keyera is currently seeking a Plant Operator for our Nordegg River Gas Plant near Rocky Mountain House and Drayton Valley, Alberta. This exciting role will support the day to day operations of the plant, troubleshooting, optimization and tuning of the plant’s processes. This facility has an onsite dorm and the selected candidate may be required to stay there if they live more than 90 minutes from the facility, or in circumstances when coverage is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support Keyera’s risk management processes.
  • Operate the facility in a safe, economical and efficient manner using quality principals.
  • Included in night shift rotation.
  • Follow all internal and regulatory documentation and reporting processes.
  • Responsible for daily operating assignments on plant equipment and processes.
  • Support the maintenance team (plowing snow, safety watch, etc.)
  • Own and execute projects as needed.
  • Participate in review, modification or development of facility procedures.
  • Seek improvements and develop plans to remedy process upsets and reliability challenges.
  • Assist with contractor orientation and supervision for on-site operations.
  • Monitor facility readings, product sampling and quality control.
  • Operating the facility main control board to respond, troubleshoot, and rectify abnormal conditions.
  • Support engineering and maintenance teams with various projects.
  • Work with team on preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is running efficiently and safely.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a similar role within gas plant operations.
  • Follow through on commitments as an engaged contributor.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Fourth Class inter provincial steam ticket or Fired Process Heater Operator ticket is preferred as a minimum.
  • Demonstrate diligence in following process and procedures.
  • Able to demonstrate deep understanding of theoretical and actual plant processes (fractionation, refrigeration, condensate stabilization, etc.).
  • Strong team player with the ability to listen, learn and share knowledge.
  • Valid H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG and First Aid Certificates would be an asset.
  • Actively guard against complacency and challenge the status quo.
  • Possess proven communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • At the sole discretion of management, other combinations of directly relevant experience and educational credentials will be considered.
  • Highly organized, reliable individual with attention to detail.
