Job Description

The role of Product Manager – Power - Data Equipment. Power Electronics Engineer is complex and requires interaction with many departments (Marketing, Sales, Projects, Purchasing, Planning, Operations, Accounting and Finance). The role consists of Product Marketing, Product Development, and Product Manufacturing.


In your capacity as Product Manager – Power - Data Equipment. Power Electronics Engineer, your duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to being responsible and accountable for development, strategic planning, production, forecasting, and marketing of the Power-Data product families at all stages of the product lifecycle with the objective of ensuring technical leadership within the industry, maximizing company’s sales revenues, and profit margins.


For Product Development the Employee will be responsible for:


  • Disseminating information and training material for Power-Data Equipment to the appropriate departments (Sales, Support, etc.);
  • Creating customized designs of existing products as requested by Sales Department to fit the needs of special projects. Must include concept drawings, costing and estimated delivery of customized product;
  • Exercising professional experience and knowledge to select appropriate pre-existing AC/DC and DC/DC conversion equipment for both Constant Voltage and Constant Current applications;
  • Creating and maintaining product configurator roadmaps and working with Product Data Management team to maintain configurators within the ERP system;
  • Producing detailed drawings, final specifications including Bill of Materials and costing by using dedicated computer software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Altium Designer, Epicor ERP);
  • Conceptualizing, designing and developing power conversion technologies for AC/DC and DC/DC applications in both low power (1W to 200W) and high power (3kW to 100kW+) delivery systems;
  • Leading New Product Development (NPD) process, ensuring proper release of documentation and adherence to product release schedules;
  • Overseeing development of Power-Data equipment based on cost, selection of components, materials, production methods, new technology, safety, ergonomics, the environment, marketing and business strategy;
  • Reporting on SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) and IRAP (Industrial research Assistance Program) related to assigned Product group (if required).
  • Ensuring all Power Equipment meets or exceeds compliance requirements as set by governing bodies in both safety (UL, CSA, CE) and EMC (FCC, CISPR) standards;


For Product Manufacturing the Employee will be responsible for:


  • Modifying designs, where necessary, to meet manufacturing or cost requirements;
  • Recommending changes to work methods, safety measures and labor organization;
  • Collaborate with procurement and planning teams to forecast and control inventory to balance cost, lead time and inventory value.
  • Assisting Process Engineering Department to choose and develop more efficient and safe manufacturing processes using new, existing or modified machinery and equipment;
  • Coordinating Product Customization Order (PCO) process from initial request to production, ensuring completion of all required supporting materials and tasks (including documentation, pricing, test plan, BOM/routing generation etc.);
  • Ensuring necessary support to the Operations Department to achieve target production throughput of assigned family of products, on time and on budget;


For Product Marketing the Employee will be responsible for:

  • Client feedback or self-examination, indicating a hole in our product offering;
  • Development of a new market;
  • Creating pricing strategies, updating as needed based on costs and market conditions;
  • Overseeing the creation of samples cases for professional demonstration of the assigned family of products by agents and GVA’s sales team.
  • Planning and execution of market research projects to assess customer needs regarding the current product range and new product introductions. Recommending action plans accordingly;
  • Providing sales team with the necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell the product. This involves printed and electronic promotional material, photometry files, product training, and relevant white papers (developed in cooperation with Marketing Department);
  • New technical insight which will lead to a trendsetting/market leading design;
  • Developing the marketing strategy for assigned family of products;
  • Acting as point of first reference for all product related enquiries and work collaboratively with colleagues to address any issues that may arise;
  • Interface directly with customers, providing product training at tradeshows or targeted visits;
  • Collaborating with the Marketing Department to develop the annual marketing plan and for controlling advertising, promotion and sales aides in accordance with the annual marketing plan;
  • Estimation of the customers demand for the product family;
  • Initiating new product development as needed, based on:
  • Staying informed of any competing products on the market: create and maintain a competitive analysis on all major competition as well as new competitors. Provide the sales team with relevant information as it becomes available;


Other functions:

· Generate, analyse and present monthly/quarterly/annual reports in executive meetings in accordance with agreed goals/objectives/metrics for Product Managers;

Such further and other duties as may be necessary and/or desirable to effectively carry out the aforementioned duties and responsibilities


Qualifications:

• Degree in Electronics Engineering;

• 5-10+ years of progressive experience in electronic designs and electronic board designs;

• 3+ years of experience in software and firmware development;

• Solid foundation in AC-DC and DC-DC conversion techniques and circuit analysis;

• Solid foundation in Circuit Protection and Compliance Testing requirements (ESD, EFT, Surge, EMC, EMI etc);

• Proficiency with Altium 365.
