Role: Power-BI Developer

Location: Remote/Canada

Duration: 1+ Year

Certifications & Education Requirements:

Post-secondary education in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other post-secondary education acceptable

Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate and other relevant certifications are desired (i.e.: Power BI Data Analyst Associate; Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate)

Mandatory Requirement

Must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a senior role in Power BI including using SharePoint as a data source with complex columns in use (people, managed metadata, lookup columns). Relevant experience to be within the last two (2) years.

Skills And Experience

Working knowledge implementing row-level security in Power BI

Strong working knowledge of data visualization options, including visualizations appropriate for leadership consumption

Soft Skills: The Power BI Developer resource must have the following soft skills to ensure that performance requirements meet SaskTel's expectations. This is not a complete list and SaskTel reserves the right to consider other skills if/when resources are interviewed for specific project requirements.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, easy to understand

Detail oriented and well-organized; must be able to manage multiple assignments with staggered deadlines

Must have exceptional interpersonal, team-player, and documentation skills

Strong team and task management skills

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

Software Knowledge Requirements

Power BI Developer resource(s) shall have knowledge and experience with the following Software applications or platforms, but not limited to:

Power BI Desktop

Power BI Service

Data Modeling and Data Warehousing Concepts

DAX

Power Query

Dataflows

SharePoint as data source

SQL databases as data source

Oracle databases as data source

On-premises data gateways

Responsibilities

Design and develop business intelligence solutions using on-premises and cloud data sources using the Power BI platform

Writing business requirements, technical specifications, documentation, and user guides on developed products

Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations

Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements

Develop dataflows to centralize data preparation

Work with data scientist and database administrators to design and implement data models that support the business intelligence solutions

Optimize reports and data loads for increased performance and scalability

Ensure data accuracy and quality by implementing appropriate data validation and cleansing techniques

Troubleshoot and debug issues with Power BI reports and dashboards

Develop and maintain documentation for the business intelligence solutions

Stay up to date with the latest Power BI features and best practices

Train and support business users on how to use the Power BI solutions effectively
