Sr Power Bi Developer (Ottawa-Based/ Hybrid)

OnX Canada is looking for a couple of experienced Power BI Developers on contract for one of our clients in Ottawa (government).

Location: hybrid onsite to Ottawa location (fully remote is NOT possible)

Employment Type: 6 mos contract to start, could lead to FT perm if so inclined.

Hrs per week: 40

Start: 4-5 weeks after offer confirmation; time required for deep dive background check

1. Candidates must be able to pass/complete a throughout detailed background check, therefore past gov’t experience or security clearance of any level (past or existing) is required.
2. A portfolio or examples of dashboards and visualizations you have produced will be required as part of the submission/selection process.

Requirements:

• In-depth knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Mobile.
• Solid understanding of SQL and experience with data manipulation and retrieval from relational databases.
• Strong understanding of data visualization principles, such as chart types, color schemes, layout, and interactivity.
• Proven 6+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role, with a strong focus on data visualization.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and integrity in visualizations.
• Proficient in data modeling and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to create complex calculations and measures.
• Demonstrated ability to create visually appealing and effective reports and dashboards using Power BI.

Responsibilities:

• Develop visually compelling reports, dashboards, and interactive data visualizations using Power BI.
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into actionable data visualization solutions.
• Design and implement data models to support interactive visualizations and data analysis.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and other team members to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Provide training and support to end users on Power BI functionalities and self-service reporting capabilities
• Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights for effective storytelling.
• Optimize and enhance existing Power BI reports and dashboards for improved usability and performance.
