Job Description
TERM to August 30, 2024 - Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager of Maintenance Services is responsible for the day to day routine maintenance of the Inuvik LNG facility Plant engines, and the associated auxiliary equipment. Also responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Plant grounds and fences.


  • Receive, inspect and log any fuel or lube oil deliveries to plant sites. Immediately report any spillage of products to Manager.
  • You will be required to provide training to and receive training from co-workers, as well as perform other responsibilities in applicable areas within your work unit as assigned by the Manager.
  • Maintain buildings as to a safe, clean manner. Entrances / exits clear of snow and debris, combustible materials stored in proper locations. Emergency lighting and exit signs tested and serviced as needed. Tools and equipment properly stored. Floors swept and washed.
  • Complete plant inspection reports by hand or by use of a computer.
  • Review and maintain plant / system logbooks including maintenance of the unit downtime log for the Inuvik LNG Facility and Power Plant.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two years' related mechanical or electrical experience required.
  • Ensure the safety of other employees, contractors and the general public in the workplace by Reporting any failure to adhere to safety practices or rules Providing detailed orientations and identification of hazards to all visitors Removing hazards or make the workplace safe when leaving a work area
  • Must undergo successful criminal record check.
  • Inspect and maintain LNG plant facilities and tank farms, fuel transfer lines and pump houses, and fuel tank levels. Report any unusual conditions immediately to supervisor.
  • Travel to communities for extended periods of time if required to complete tasks such as operate plant, oil changes, fuel transfers, etc.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent required.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly plant / unit reports by hand or by use of a computer.
  • Experience with annual inspections and maintenance of LNG or cryogenic facilities would be an asset.
  • Always work safely, adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health & Safety and Environmental programs, comply with all rules & regulations, and continually practice health & safety while performing any duties.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day routine maintenance of the Inuvik LNG facility, also support annually inspection of main & auxiliary LNG equipment
  • Preferably a course in Power Engineering, Building Maintenance or one with an electrical or mechanical orientation.
  • Monitor assist and report progress of outside contractors.
  • Operate communication equipment.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the Health & Safety program, Environment program as well as NTPC’s safety culture.
  • Participates in team meetings in accordance with the principles of team management to determine generation program objectives, to provide input to group financial and program planning, and to assess and coordinate unit workload and priorities.


This is a bargaining unit position. Salary for this position ranges from $38.75/hr-$47.07/hr. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, long-term disability, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan.
