Job Description


Imperial provides job opportunities for local Sahtu beneficiaries to work and be mentored directly on the job site. This maximum 2 year internship program provides paid training and work experience in the petroleum industry at our Norman Wells Operations.


As an initial assignment you will train as a member of our operating staff to gain practical hands-on experience with operating and safety procedures. On-the-job experience will be supplemented with additional related formal training. You will begin in plant operations. You will be required to work on your own without direct supervision following the initial training period. Safe and efficient operation of the plant facilities is a key component of this position.


Responsibilities


  • Support Maintenance dept with pro-active reporting stewardship, site safety loss prevention observations, and support for site safety, security, and environmental programs.
  • Support journeyman mechanic with day-to-day activities
  • Understanding and abiding by all safety rules and standards, reporting hazards and assuming responsibility for the safe operation of your assigned company vehicle.
  • Participating in safety programs/meetings and attending training


Qualifications

Academic:


  • Grade 12 high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required for this position
  • For operations, 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is an asset


Other:

  • Able to communicate effectively with team members
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required


This posting is intended for applicants who self-identify at an indigenous Sahtu beneficiary. You must attach a copy of your enrolment certificate or proof of membership letter from the Sahtu Enrolment office or your land corporation office to your application. This information will be used for the purpose of identifying your eligibility for the program. Please do not attach a copy of your membership card.


Start date: Q3, 2023


Work Term: 1 Year Paid Internship, with potential to extend additional year. Possibility of full-time employment offered upon successful completion of the program and an available position.
