Job Description
Piikani Child and Family Services is seeking an Outreach Supervisor for our Prevention Division. In this newly created role, The Outreach Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating outreach programs and initiatives aimed at connecting individuals and communities with social services and resources. This role works to build relationships, advocate for community needs, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate and impactful services. The Outreach Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting individuals and families in accessing the support they need to thrive and overcome challenges.


This is a full time, 2-year contract position with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The working hours will be 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday. The annual salary for this position will be $70,000-$80,000 dependent on education and experience levels.


Job Duties And Responsibilities


Program Development and Management:


  • Coordinate the implementation of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, support groups, and informational sessions.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to meet the evolving needs of the community.
  • Design and develop outreach programs and initiatives to address the needs of Piikani individuals and communities, ensuring cultural relevance and sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with other service providers and organizations to create a comprehensive and coordinated network of support services.
Team Leadership and Supervision:


  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and cultural safety.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members, stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Outreach team, including training, support, and performance evaluation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with nation members, organizations, and stakeholders to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations.
  • Advocate for community needs and interests, representing the organization in various forums and meetings.
  • Collaborate with Elders to ensure cultural appropriateness and respect in all outreach activities.
Resource Coordination and Referrals:


  • Stay informed about available resources, programs, and funding opportunities that could benefit the community.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive referral network to connect individuals and families with appropriate services and resources.
  • Provide support and guidance to outreach workers in assessing client needs, making referrals, and navigating the service system.
  • Identify and establish partnerships with relevant community resources, service providers, and agencies.
Reporting and Documentation:


  • Ensure compliance with PCFS policies, procedures, and funding requirements in all documentation and reporting activities.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with the Outreach team to evaluate client and program progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in weekly individual meetings with the Prevention Manager to discuss client needs, goals and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, including statistics, reports, and program documentation.
  • Prepare monthly reports on program outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct frequent quality Home Visits.


The Outreach Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing:


  • Homemaker and parent/guardian aid services.
  • Transportation and accommodation/meals (if needed) for parents/guardians to attend non-medical (e.g. parenting classes) and medical services or appointments as identified.
  • Parenting/Guardian Education Programs.
  • Home Management. (e.g., budgeting, financial literacy, menu planning, directing families toward appropriate services)
  • Supporting parents/guardians in their search for work.
  • Mentoring services for children and parents.
  • Respite Care.
  • Non-medical counselling services.
  • Purchase of basic needs items (e.g. crib, bed, fridge, stove, air conditioner, etc.) meant to ensure that children are kept within the home.
  • Monthly reports to be submitted to the Prevention manager.
  • Cultural, recreational and other activity-related needs for children still living at home.


REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Diploma in Social Work or Human Services. Other related education will be considered.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clean Criminal, and Child Intervention Record Check.
  • At least two years’ experience in the human services field, or a related field.
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation. (Driver’s abstract required)
  • Blackfoot language and culture knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating programs.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with social service programs, resources, and agencies serving Indigenous populations.
  • Display kindness, empathy and compassion to families.
  • In depth understanding of community resources in Piikani and surrounding areas.
  • Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
