We currently have a Regular Part-Time (0.5 FTE) opportunity for a Physiotherapist on the Critical Care Unit department at Bayview.

Summary Of Duties

The Critical Care Unit (CrCU) is a 20 beds Level 3 intensive care unit (ICU) providing care for the most vulnerable patients at Sunnybrook. The Physiotherapists provide service to patients presenting with various conditions including multisystem traumas, orthopaedic, neurological, oncology, post-surgical and cardiorespiratory issues. The Physiotherapists (in collaboration with the interprofessional team) are responsible for providing person centred patient assessments and interventions for patients with complex needs. The physiotherapists in the CrCU collaborate with each other and members of the patient care team to foster, enhance and support physiotherapy best practice and early mobilization with the ICU. Physiotherapy in the CrCU provides a unique opportunity to be mentored into the intensive care environment

Qualifications/Skills

• Participates in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy Services
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives, evaluative processes that include the use of standardized and valid outcome measures, report writing, and research activities
• Practices in accordance with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario standards of practice
• Provides physiotherapy assessment and treatment while collaborating with the interprofessional team
• Participates in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that fosters ongoing learning, professionalism, interprofessional collaborations, and best practices in physiotherapy for ICU patients
• Participation of supervision of physical therapy students on an ongoing basis and is a resource for the education of interprofessional students
• Participates on appropriate committees pertaining to the operation of the CrCU
• Is an expert resource for staff, students, and other health care providers related to physiotherapy
