Job Description

Operations Manager- Digital Pharmacy (Contract Position)

Number of Positions: 1 Duration: 12 months

Location: Mississauga, ON, CA

Must be eligible to work in Canada

Hybrid position


Client is looking for managing the their pharmacy & optical operating systems from an operational position, enabling and enhancing the operating system capabilities to improve the system communication\integration to assist in driving the overall organization profit ; including but not limited to functional work-flow driven software, compliance with all regulatory changes, effective service level support, inventory management, new business programming and billable functionality, metric reporting and associate training tools and support. As the face of technology for their respective domain, strong candidates will have a sound understanding of retail health business, a solid record for delivering customer centric results, and a natural affinity to cultivating trusting relationships with partners. This position will act as a subject matter expert role and is essential to daily operations and expanding business opportunities in how effectively they are facilitated through our supporting pharmacy systems and tools. This position will own the end-to-end operation of our pharmacy software system and will ensure day to day system functionality is optimal as well as drive and support system enhancements to facilitate our strategic priorities.


Responsibilities:

1. Support business strategy by enabling and enhancing the operating system capabilities to improve system communication and integration with third party software platforms via API (for example Digital Pharmacy, PrescribeIT, Delivery Vendors), facilitating new ways of working and modernization of healthcare operation, thereby assisting in driving the overall organizational profit.

2. Collaborate with the continuous improvement partners to enhance operational effectiveness via system efficiency improvement initiatives (such as paperless pharmacy and new technology platforms to ease patient onboarding)

Working in collaboration with network and other technology team members to enhance and maintain the healthcare operating system integrity to meet Client's cyber security standards.

3. Maintain and continue development of the Pharmacy & Optical operating systems based on Client's workflow; ensuring patient safety, speed of service and effective use of pharmacy & Optical team roles to drive current business objectives. This includes providing ongoing effective training tools and support for the associates.

4. Maintain a current understanding of provincial, federal and professional changes that will require system enhancements to meet compliance requirements (including Client's cyber security standards), and or business impact and revenue opportunities and presents best in class solutions, costs and ROI for approval and leads implementation or is a key responsible as subject matter expert on larger projects.

5. Responsible for ensuring effective service level maintained for pharmacy and optical operations at store level and home office. Confirms service level requirements both internal and vendor sponsored, to meet business needs; proposes solutions for sign off, measures results and reports back to the business including remedies.

6. Support the business strategy to expand Patient Care models and services, as well as improve operational efficiencies through exploration of pharmacy and optical operating system enhancements, integrating customer interfacing delivery methods (example e-health, digital pharmacy platforms, PrescribeIT) and devices and when possible leveraging multiple healthcare service providers, continuous improvement and technology partners through common system opportunities. Presents the opportunity effectively including costs and ROI for approval and will implement or participate in the project execution.

7. Accountable for organizing and completing the validation of changes to the pharmacy and optical modules, including integrated testing, training, functional support, auditing modifications / implementations, and documentation.

8. As the Pharmacy and Optical System Operations subject matter expert: designs and documents general functional requirements and detailed technical specifications for the pharmacy system applications as required for development by vendor partners.


Qualifications:

1-7 years of relevant experience in healthcare industry.

4-6 years of handling Pharmacy systems.

Retail Pharmacy Experience is highly recommended.

Strong communication with regards to ongoing changes and business results with stakeholders.

Able to build stories & manage an agile backlog.

Ability to define requirements & perform user acceptance testing technology teams. Previous experience with JIRA, Confluence is an asset not mandatory.

Experience in SQL, Kroll\Pharmacy Application is an asset.

Strong business acumen related to Retail/Pharmacy/healthcare is an asset.

Willing to make suggestions in order to enhance/improve functionality.

Experience of planning, executing and validating tests across the full test spectrum (functional, non-functional, regression, integration, UAT, OAT etc.)

Experience in the Retail Pharmacy industry and exposure on POS systems, Mobile App, Handhelds, and Payments and Delivery & central fill is an asset.
