Operating System Lead Jobs

Reporting to Manager, Operating System, Base Metals, the Operating System Lead will be responsible for supporting development and user adoption of the Management Operating System by providing leadership and subject-matter expertise to our operating sites. This role will require the incumbent to advance the Management Operating System through effective management and inclusion of people, process, and technology. This will require teamwork and coordination with our business partner consultants and internal Teck departments.

Responsibilities

• Raise and manage risks to the MOS program
• Support the development and documentation of a Management Operating System for Base Metals, inclusive of establishing the framework, principles, and process for the site level MOS
• Support coaching and mentoring of the base metal’s improvement processes working directly with each site based on their implementation maturity level
• Coach and mentor to the MOS philosophy and approach
• Facilitate and guide deployment activities at operating sites and workshops with prospective users.
• Lead routine MOS reporting and program updates to sites, business unit leadership, and stakeholders outside the base metals operating function (Teck Digital Services, Digital Analytics, Finance, etc.)
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Responsible for standing-up and governing implementation of the MOS sprint process, MOS hub and MOS integrated Key Performance indicator framework
• Support governance of the MOS program implementation at Base Metal sites
• Facilitate MOS transformation program (the MOS playbook) with site leads to ensure quality organisational change at base metal sites inclusive of stakeholder assessment, resistance, and management
• Provide behavioural/cultural coaching to sprint sponsor and lead to actively manage and report on impacts and alignment of key collaborators
• Generate pre-reads for working sessions and review cycles
• Cooperate with our program administrator consultant and when appropriate ensure MOS routines are successfully transitioned and sustained at the site

Qualifications

• Demonstrated teammate with a relationship focus approach and able to collaborate in a team environment
• Outstanding project management skills
• Experience implementing an operating system improvement is strongly preferred
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Ability to travel 20% of the time
• Demonstrated ability to lead and empower a diverse team of individuals in a matrix organization as well as effectively manage third parties
• Strong interpersonal skills and personal efficiency; proven ability to influence people of a diverse set of backgrounds
• Process focused and results oriented
• Spanish language skills would be an asset
• Broad understanding of the operation excellence within an industrial setting
• A minimum of ten years of industrial experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant field
• Good understanding of Operating Systems, and the supporting technologies that can be leveraged to improve the value through establishing a management operating system
• Solid facilitation skills
• Experience managing through Organization Change Management
