Job Description

Astellas Pharma Canada is currently searching for Medical Science Liaisons for the following:


  • Territory of Ontario and Atlantic Provinces reporting to the Associate Director, Medical Science Liaisons. It is preferred that the incumbent reside in the Greater Toronto Area. The therapeutic area for this role is Oncology.
  • Territory of Western Canada reporting to the Associate Director, Medical Science Liaisons. It is preferred that the incumbent reside in the province of Alberta or British Columbia. The therapeutic area for this role is Women’s Health.


Description

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a trusted advisor for scientific exchange to Key External Experts (KEEs) and stakeholders throughout the product life cycle. In this role the incumbent is responsible for gathering intelligence from the field that generates medical insight as well as collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders, within and outside of Medical Affairs. In addition, this role is responsible to execute the tactical field plans for engagement with the medical/scientific community for a product.



Essential Job Duties

  • Engage external stakeholders in one-on-one interactions and group settings, demonstrating an excellent scientific and clinical knowledge as well as an understanding of stakeholder needs.
  • Actively seek future stakeholders (KEEs, Nurses, Pharmacists etc.) in alignment with local health care system.
  • Engage in discussions regarding evolving trends in disease state management, trends in therapy.
  • Demonstrates high level of proficiency in interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable on local health care environment and health care dynamics.
  • Maintain medical and scientific knowledge and staying current to enable peer-to-peer scientific exchange.
  • Support Medical Education activities.
  • Engage in scientific exchange in which knowledge about product(s), disease(s) and therapeutic areas is shared to ensure safe and effective use of Astellas products.



Required Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree including Ph.D., Pharm.D., MD, M.Sc. in a healthcare or scientific discipline.
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Oncology, Urology ,or Women’s Health based on the role applied to.
  • Educational Background: MD, PhD, PharmD
