As a Medical Office Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health you will


  • Work as a member of an integrated team and play a significant role in ensuring that clients/patients have a positive experience with the designated services within a fast paced, high volume clinic environment.
  • Schedule and book appointments, typing technical and non-technical material, maintaining filing and computerized patient/client/client database systems and processing a variety of requisitions.


Education & Experience


  • One year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Grade 12, graduation from an approved program as a Medical Office Assistant (MOA).


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
