We’re looking for our next Manager, Securities Lending and Finance. Could It Be You?

The role of the Manager, Securities Lending and Finance is to plan and monitor the daily activities for the department while ensuring analysts adhere to operational policies and procedures.

They mitigate financial, regulatory and reputational risks by ensuring the SLA and regulatory compliance of third party services and in-house processes. They work collaboratively to foster productive and positive relationships for the benefit of Questrade’s clients and overall business operations.

What’s it like working as a Manager, Securities Lending and Finance at Questrade?

The Manager will work collaboratively within the management group to coordinate the activities to successfully meet the business needs. They monitor service quality where required to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and effectively, and collect, interpret and report on metrics.

• Interact with internal staff to provide client support as necessary
• Arrange the accurate/efficient onboarding of new counterparties
• Manage all operational tasks for both Securities Finance and Securities Lending desks including oversight of Process Outsourcing
• Capable and comfortable operating within tight deadlines, able to make sound decisions, and able to quickly learn about the business/issues, without necessarily having any prior direct experience with the subject matter.
• Assess training needs within the team
• Take on special projects as assigned
• Initiate and coordinate project initiatives with partners in Operations, Technology, Finance, Risk, Trading and Compliance
• Conduct internal policy and procedure reviews and updates annually
• Develop, implement and maintain productivity metrics, and KPI’s
• Focus on coaching and the growth of any direct reports
• Be an integral part of designing and implementing processes & procedures for department to meet identified objectives
• Operating independently, identifying and resolving issues with minimal oversight.
• Support the growth of the department including planning for staffing and work flow allocation
• Schedule and conduct team meetings and communicate strategic objectives to the team
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk
• Develop and maintain working relationships with internal partners for the purposes of delivering optimal customer service.
• Collaborate with peers and employees as well as other department heads and administrators to identify and implement processing and procedural improvements

✔ 5+ years of relevant work experience including 2+ years people management

✔ Strong operational experience in Securities Lending or Settlements is preferred

✔ Ability to build and maintain strong relationship with both internal and external stakeholders and ability to influence decision making

✔ Exceptional communication, time management and organizational skills

✔ Strong Project Management experience is an asset

✔ Knowledge of BPS, Arrow, CDS, DTC, BNP, Loanet, Helix, or Apex is considered an asset.

✔ Technical skills - Python, SQL, Google Suite

✔ Proven Analytical And Reconciliation Skills And Experience

✔ CSI course completion, including: CSC, CPH exam is an asset
