The Role:


Neo Financial is looking for a full-time Manager to join our Financial Crimes Operations team in Calgary, AB.


The Financial Crimes team enables Neo’s high-growth portfolio by developing, implementing, and improving Neo’s risk management policies and procedures as it relates to fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing prevention. By leveraging their industry expertise, people leadership, and excellence in process management, we are looking for high-performing leaders to make an immediate impact on Neo’s via strategic and tactical Financial Crimes team risk levers.


What you'll be doing:


  • Continually drive and lead process improvement and innovation
  • Develop management systems and processes that ensure consistency in alert management and level one investigation processes with sound quality control
  • Act as a coach and mentor to team members to drive people development and career progression
  • Lead a large team of composed of 20+ team leads, senior analysts, and analysts to create an environment of efficient and effective operations
  • Collaborate with the broader Financial Crimes leadership to identify gaps in Fraud and AML/ATF strategies, policies, and processes and implement changes to address them
  • Work closely with product and analytics teams to ensure effectiveness of rules and models driving alert volume to maximize true positives and minimize false negatives; ensuring feedback from analysts on hidden trends are quickly incorporated
  • Seek out negative trends in performance indicators and work with team to implement effective corrective measures with a sense of urgency
  • Develop and continually improve Neo’s front-line processes, driving excellence in alert handling, documentation and escalation of necessary cases to level 2 investigations teams
  • Drive operational performance standards, with full compliance with Risk Management and Compliance requirements.


Who we are looking for:


  • Strong knowledge of rule-based and model-based fraud/ML detection and prevention methodologies
  • You think strategically with the ability to see the big picture may be affected by risk strategies
  • University Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics or other relevant fields is an asset
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences including senior management
  • You have a passion for people development and mentoring of junior resources
  • You take a collaborative approach and with the ability to engage purposely with stakeholders
  • You have experience in a fast-paced environment where competing priorities, uncertain outcomes and iteration is the norm
  • Proven experience implementing processes/systems, enabling effective Fraud/AML operations and investigations
  • You proactively seek to improve processes, raising quality and productivity through efficiencies or by implementing best-in-class solutions
  • 5+ years experience in Fraud/AML strategy and investigations with at least 2+ years in a leadership position
