Loss Prevention Analyst
The Loss Prevention Analyst is a member of the Loss Prevention team whose role is to protect company assets through the preparation, curation, and delivery of data into actionable intelligence and management reports. The analyst supports investigations with criminal and operational intelligence through the processing, gathering, and evaluation of data.
The Loss Prevention Analyst protects people, assets, and information by ensuring our policies and procedures are followed, benchmarks and programs are being monitored, and violations of policy or criminal trends are detected through monitoring, analysis and real time reporting to Loss Prevention Management.
The Loss Prevention Analyst supports the efforts of Loss Prevention Management and specialized teams with delivery of actionable and relevant intelligence for monitoring the business and completing cases. The Analyst supports investigations with tactical analysis and evidence gathering expertise.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Protect company assets and reduce company losses.
  • Will attend court and legal proceedings and provide testimony as directed or requested by the Crown.
  • Identify and allow for early response to emerging trends.
  • Track compliance of audit processes and variance monitoring. Report on non-compliance and anomalies.
  • Collect forensically sound evidence.
  • Break down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhance analysis, and / or streamline reporting.
  • Support investigations with criminal and operational intelligence through the processing, gathering, and evaluation of data.
  • Provide investigative support with tactical analysis and evidence gathering expertise.
  • Conduct planned Loss Prevention analysis as assigned, detecting and reporting on indicators of internal losses such as POS exceptions, inventory anomalies, and policy and procedure breaches.
  • Report security weaknesses or anomalies in programs to LP Management.
  • Work in partnership with the Response Centre to curate daily POS transactions to audit for potential internal theft, fraud and policy violations.
  • Present data in the form of actionable intelligence for the use of LP Management and in support of Company and Department strategic execution.
  • Prepare, curate, and deliver routine and ad-hoc reports to Loss Prevention Management.
  • Support investigations in a safe, legal, and ethical manner while following company policy and procedures.
  • Protect company information, following all information security policies and privacy protocols.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
  • Ability to conduct fact finding interviews or telephone interviews to corroborate or validate data evidence.
  • Advanced knowledge of the use of common data visualization tools or exception-based reporting tools.
  • Ability to learn and follow laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to investigations work and case building.
  • Initiative to isolate and solve problems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, concise and unbiased reports to company standard.
  • Strong decision making and critical analysis skills.
  • Proficient typing and transcription skills.
  • Strong attention to detail for monitoring and evaluating data in order to identify patterns of loss or indicators of suspect behavior.
  • Ability to gather basic evidence at a scene.
  • Ability to structure and present complex data in clear and visually appealing ways, including using visualizations.
  • Ability to analyze data and see anomalies or exceptions as investigative leads.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask effectively and work under changing priorities.
Education and Knowledge:
  • If specified by Provincial Regulation, a valid Provincial Security Worker’s License required prior to training.
  • A minimum of two years loss prevention or related security industry experience is an asset.
  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in data curation, statistical crime analysis, Business, Data Warehouse or IT environment is preferred.
  • Provincially recognized security training (Basic Security Training) will be required.
  • Advanced level in MS Office 365 and related products.
  • Basic understanding of investigative process, evidence gathering, interviews and case building.
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI is an asset.
