Job Description
Our large Utility client is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant for a 6 month plus contract.


The Legal Administrative Assistant will support the regulatory lawyers in the development of Facility, and other Applications filed within the regulatory department. This individual supports with legal drafting tasks, document revisions, formatting and a variety of other administrative functions. This position will be required to coordinate and manage a large number of demands and will be responsible for time management and prioritization of tasks from numerous individuals in the regulatory department.


Requirements


Responsibilities


  • Support at regulatory hearings, as required; and
  • Support the effective time management of the legal team, including: tracking commitments; maintaining calendar/brings-forward files, ensuring notification of upcoming deadlines, and assisting in meeting preparation;
  • Proof reading and formatting regulatory applications, responses to information requests, evidence and arguments;
  • Management of critical reporting obligations, such as regulatory applications, information requests and hearing deadlines;
  • Support several regulatory lawyers with legal drafting tasks, document revisions, formatting and a variety of administrative functions;
  • Provide a variety of general administrative functions.


Qualifications


  • Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.
  • Intermediate ability in SAP, SharePoint and Adobe software is an asset;
  • Meeting experience organization of meetings and meeting preparation;
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong proof reading, grammar and editing skills;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes; and
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Legal Assistant role either in-house or at a law firm;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite, in particular: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities;
  • Proactive, results focused, with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Proven ability in dealing with the internal and external clients;
  • High School Diploma and formal Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary training;
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask a large workload from many sources;
  • Ability to quickly learn company specific software;
  • Must have a demonstrated positive and proactive approach and be prepared to be flexible in the work performed;
