Climate change is the defining challenge of our time, and the team at Invert is building innovative tools that empower individuals and businesses alike to tackle the problem head on. We are a team of experienced start-up scalers that have taken ideas from a whiteboard to the New York Stock Exchange, all while maintaining a focus on a rewarding, award-winningteam culture. Our company does two key things.

First, we invest in projects that result in carbon credits being created, such as planting a forest or building a machine that sucks CO2 from the air. By selling these credits on to individuals or businesses, we are able to generate revenue that lets us make more investments in projects that reduce or remove CO2, and we continue the cycle!

Second, we are creating a place (more specifically,an app) where individuals can go to learn about what they can do themselves to address this giant problem of climate change. We want to help individuals understand their own impact on the world, and give them a chance to support carbon offset projects. We want every individual to be carbon neutral, and we want them to get there in an engaging manner with rich content and community.

The Opportunity

The Junior Software Developer will develop, test, and implement new technical solutions as definedby the Senior Systems Architect. You will support development of all tasks in order to ensure projectsare completed on time and to specifications. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams andstakeholders, you’ll ensure that all system-related needs are properly supported and managedthrough team collaboration and communication.

Reporting to the Manager R&D, you will participate in:

• Develop User Interface implementations under the guidance of the team leader for UI
• Development of technical solutions for business needs as defined by Senior SystemsArchitect and Director, R&D and other senior leadership roles
• Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes whereneeded
• Work with product teams develop scalable solutions and products
• Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes whereneeded
• Resolving technical problems as they arise
• Develop API extensions and server features within our existing PHP infrastructure and extendthat functionality into new Javascript platforms

The experience we’re looking for:

• Effective communication skills
• Some experience writing SQL queries for Relational Databases and non-RelationalDatabases
• Ability to use version control software such as GIT
• Working knowledge of object-oriented design and development skills
• Understanding of emerging web development, including PHP, Javascript, React and Node.jsframeworks
• Understanding of HTML, Javascript and CSS technologies and their deployment in modernweb and app user interfaces
• In-depth understanding of coding languages (Javascript, PHP, React, HTML/CSS, Python).
• Good understanding of AWS services and API design
• The ability to meet deadlines and think strategically
• Working knowledge of object-oriented design and development skills
