Project Planning Specialist
Vancouver, BC or REMOTE
Introduction
Our client, a well-known operator within the Mining and Minerals industry, is seeking an intermediate level Project Planning Specialist to support their project operations in British Columbia.
For each project assignment, the Project Planning Specialist is accountable to the project for the planning and implementation of effective scheduling/planning resources, processes and systems on the project, within the standards set by the Lead Planner. This may involve a self-execute approach or one of collaboration with our client’s EPCM partners.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and reviewing schedule management plans.
- Responsible for developing and/or reviewing schedule submissions and basis of schedules for all project stages.
- Responsible to support project reporting and project presentations, as directed by Project Controls Lead (Manager).
- Responsible for developing L3/L4 resource loaded schedules.
- Responsible for performing scheduling audits on service providers, as appropriate.
- Responsible for ensuring Project Controls Overviews and Standards are properly applied and followed on a project with respect to Planning.
- Responsible for reviewing schedules for consistency, realism, and quality.
- Responsible for identifying schedule deviations on scope with package owner and working with package owner to identify and implement mitigations.
- Responsible to support forecasting on a monthly basis, as directed by Project Controls Lead (Manager).
- Responsible for identifying critical/near-critical paths, and understands float usage on third party schedules.
- Responsible for integrating subcontractor schedules into master schedule.
Requirements
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, computer science, finance or business, or diploma in a trade, is required.
· 5+ years of planning/scheduling experience, with preference to mining/industrial projects, is required.
· 3+ years experience in an Owner’s role is required.
· 3+ years of field experience is required.
· Demonstrated proficiency in planning/scheduling development, review and analysis is required.
· Strong knowledge of the engineering and construction industry is required
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
· Experience using at least one scheduling tool like MS Project or Primavera 6 is required.
· PEng or AScT registration considered an asset.
· CCP, CEP, PMP or other similar designations considered an asset.
