THE OPPORTUNITY


Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate Marine Biologist to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in our Vancouver office.


This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working outdoors and who thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world-class projects that balance environmental stewardship with responsible resource development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
  • Providing technical skills in marine aquatic biology with the ability to design and lead study programs that address the needs of a project
  • Preparation of environmental plans and reports for stakeholders
  • Providing mentorship and direction for junior staff; and
  • Leading field programs as directed by project requirements (e.g., baseline surveys and monitoring of marine fish and fish habitat, habitat offsetting, salvage, water quality, acoustics)
  • Preparation and submission of permit applications and reports that meet Federal, Provincial, and regional environmental regulatory requirements including habitat assessments and associated mitigation
  • Supporting the Business Development team in preparing proposal responses as well as fostering and building client relationships
  • Developing and submitting quality deliverables on time
  • Advising clients on regulatory requirements, environmental risks, and practical solutions in relation to marine projects
  • Working collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture


Skills And Qualifications


  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Minimum of five years experience in marine science
  • A registered professional biologist in BC (R.P.Bio.) with a B.Sc.; an M.Sc. would be considered an asset.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations
  • Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Able to communicate effectively with critical thinking
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
  • Thorough understanding of applicable environmental legislation, regulations, and policies to ensure project-specific compliance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • MED-A3 certification would be an asset
  • Willingness to keep up-to-date with current marine information and research
