Our Client is a natural and cultural resource management company, with offices in British Columbia, the Yukon, Alberta, and Nova Scotia. Their team provides expertise in a broad range of disciplines in the biological, environmental, and social sciences. We specialize in fisheries, wildlife, aquatic and terrestrial resources, environmental management, archaeology and cultural resources, land use planning, ground penetrating radar, and forestry


Requirements


  • About the Opportunity


Our Client is currently seeking Full Time Intermediate Biologists to join their team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas.


Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (mammals, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control)
  • Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil and gas, etc.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within the corporate culture
  • Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment


More About You


To qualify, you will need a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline. Additional professional designations, certifications, and specific training in the following areas would be considered an asset:


  • Soils classification
  • Fish identification
  • Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification
  • Electrofishing certification
  • Bird survey methodology and bird identification
  • Plant identification
  • Habitat assessments
  • BIT, RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility


Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered:


  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (e.g., wildlife inventory, habitat assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection)
  • Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment process and regulatory environment
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations
  • Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit


Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License.
