Career Opportunity

We are seeking an Industrial Electrician for our Etobicoke Plant. The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for maintenance and repair of paper board manufacturing equipment in a unionized environment. To be considered for this position, you must be able to work on all shifts Monday to Friday (days 6:45 am, afternoons 2:45 pm, nights 10:45 pm). Shifts rotate weekly. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager. Starting wage for a certified Electrician is $33.79. Shift premiums for afternoon($0.75/hour) and night shift ($1.25 per hour).

All successful applicants must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal background check, and pre-placement medical.

How Will You Impact WestRock

• Overtime is required.
• Experience with troubleshooting Allen Bradley and Delta V Control Logix PLC’s.
• Experience with AC and DC drives in fan, pump, and conveyor applications.
• Willing and able to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience at Journeyman Electrician level.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Able to perform electrical construction projects and repair.
• Experience with HMI touch screens
• Experience with trouble shooting and preventive maintenance of large DC and AC motors/drives.
• AutoCAD
• Experienced with 480 and 600 VAC, 3 phase along with lower voltages.
• Able to trouble shoot and repair semi-automated production equipment.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to effectively use standard electrical test equipment including voltmeter, amprobe and megger
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Ability to set up AC and DC drives.
• Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.

What You Need To Succeed

• Able to effectively work within a team environment.
• Able to read and interpret facility blueprints and equipment technical manuals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer literate and able to be effective and efficient with various computer applications.
• Positive, can-do attitude
• Willing and able to participate in safety programs and activities.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiar with and able to safely apply with the Canadian/Ontario Electrical Code and other local safety codes, policies, and procedures.
• Willingness to go the extra mile to get it right.
• Attention to detail.
• Solid technical problem solving and communication skills.
• Three years of experience as an Industrial Journeyman Electrician.
