About This Career Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking and HVAC Journeyman Mechanic for our Service Division to maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment within our contract to achieve optimum life span of equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Testing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for leaks;
• Reading and interpreting blueprints;
• Perform routine predictive planned maintenance duties and log readings outlined by CMMS schedule;
• Starting up and shutting down major building equipment seasonally;
• Test and repair electronic components;
• Responds to environment/comfort complaints in-suite;
• Repairing and replacing components for entire heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems;
• Other duties as required.
• Assemble and install refrigeration and air conditioning components;
• Handle, recover and store refrigerants;
• Installing, troubleshooting, and overhauling entire heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems;
• Complete work orders, deficiency reports and field quotations for Additional Work Requests, estimate in a timely manner;

Skills, Abilities, And Other Requirements

• Valid G1 or G2 Certification;
• Ability to read and work from Mechanical / Electrical drawings, HVAC/R schematics, line drawings, etc.;
• Oil Burner Technician Certificate would be considered an asset;
• Valid ‘G’ Driver’s license;
• Valid Ozone Depletion Prevention Certificate (ODP);
• A team player, committed to working in a quality environment;
• Always maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees and clients;
• Experience with BAS systems;
• 3 or more years’ experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician;
• Must possess a valid 313A refrigeration certificate;
• Available and willing to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as required;
• Knowledge of a variety of electronic, pneumatic and DDC control systems considered an asset;
• Ability to work in confined spaces and work on a ladder or scaffold at various heights.
