Job Description
  • Stores and discards specimens
  • Organize cassettes in designated processor racks and load processors for overnight and same day runs following guidelines
  • The candidate will also perform other duties as assigned
  • Assists Pathologists/Pathology Assistant with gross dissection of complex specimens, monitoring samples submitted with appropriate labelling and size adequacy
  • Delivers and retrieves requisitions and dictation packages to and from Medical Transcription
  • Performs gross dissection and description on routine surgical specimens (“Specimen Dissection List”
  • Prepares specimen for gross dissection
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot processors
Required Skills
  • Can properly orient the specimen, describe the specimen in a clear, understandable and concise manner and decide how best to approach the dissection of the specimen.
  • A strong team player with ability to perform duties independently and with others.
  • Understands the clinical history submitted with a specimen and recognizes the anatomical structures in the specimen.
  • Must have excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Can perform gross dissection submitting appropriate samples for microscopic examination.
Required Experience
  • Pathology experience, keyboarding and computer skills are assets
  • Previous Histotechnician experience is an asset
  • Current experience in Anatomic Pathology at DynaLIFE is an asset.
  • Previous grossing experience is an asset
