As Health and Safety Advisor, you will advise and support the production team in matters of occupational health and safety (OHS). You will also develop and apply strategies for best practices in OHS at various levels of the company.


More specifically, you will:


  • Present a consolidated approach to OHS in all projects.
  • Identify hazards and changes that may affect the work site.
  • Provide coaching and training to supervisors.
  • Stay up to date on the implementation of corrective measures and action plans.
  • Establish procedures to ensure policies are applied and that injuries are reduced.
  • Advise the project management team on interventions, priorities, safety equipment, legislation, etc.
  • Coordinate and follow up on inspections to ensure satisfactory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory OHS obligations and contribute to the continuous performance improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports on OHS results and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in employee training.
  • Conduct regular reviews of activities and analyze accident results and trends.
  • Lead the methods of intervention and the related practices for risk analysis.


Qualifications


  • University degree or college diploma related to occupational health and safety.
  • ASP construction card is an asset.
  • Experience as a health and safety advisor, or in an equivalent position, in the construction industry.
  • Comfortable working in both a field and office environment (50%-50%).
  • Intermediate spoken English.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of statutory requirements and laws surrounding the marine industry is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of safety, environment and training requirements in the marine industry is an asset.
  • A team player capable of working in a dynamic and constantly changing work environment.
