Head of Commercialization
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Position type: Full-time
Demand for lithium is growing exponentially in tandem with the growing electric vehicle market. Summit Nanotech is looking for a Head of Commercialization to join as a key member of the executive leadership team. Responsible for revenue generation in lab, pilot, demo, and commercial scale projects. The successful candidate will also develop a strategy for advancing the company’s interests across market opportunities, market segments, geographies, government, and regulatory sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the Business Development team focused on revenue-generating contracts (projects, offtake, etc)
- Advises CEO and executive team on customer trends, needs, and positioning in the market
- Develops customer acquisition strategies through customer relationships, market intelligence, and deep customer value driver understanding.
- Applies commercialization and early-stage technology company knowledge to accelerate the team’s efforts to advance the company’s brand, market position, and sales opportunities.
- Initiates and leads certain market intelligence related to Summit’s business development initiatives.
- Mobilizes cross-functional teams for customer initiatives such as proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Translates the company’s business development strategy into initiatives, focusing on the relationships and activities that will lead to future value for Summit’s commercial objectives.
- Develops a deep understanding of Summit’s existing contracts, actions required, and stakeholders affected both internally and externally.
- Laser focus on commercialization and revenue growth, responsible for creating and leading the sales and marketing engine for Summit and delivering on corporate growth goals as it relates to sales.
Qualifications:
- Executive experience on a global stage, able to be effective in multiple locations and nurture relationships across multiple cultures.
- Ability to establish a strong connection and credibility with contacts through the highest level of professionalism, ethics, integrity, mutual respect, and value-added approach.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, able to work productively with diverse personalities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills.
- 15+ years of mining or water industry experience with broad competency in business development and strategy, including exposure to operations and project development
- Bright and articulate with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills and quick to adapt to different internal and external constituencies
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, geology, geophysics, or business. MBA is considered an asset.
- Demanding and willing to be held accountable for results.
- Team player with independence of thought and opinion to provide candor and honesty when making critical business decisions.
- Proven ability to effectively build and manage a productive and high-functioning team.
