Opportunity
Calgary Co-op is seeking a Grocery Manager to become a member of our co-operative team. Reporting to the Centre Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operations of the Grocery department to improve customer service, program execution and company profitability, including but not limited to the following: scheduling, appraisals, budgeting and attainment of financial results. Along with the overall management of image, standards, implementation and adherence to company programs, policies and procedures, and other human resources related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach, mentor and develop Team Members, including overseeing onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development and achievement of financial results and store budget objectives in the area of sales, margins, expenses, profits, and EHP.
- Maintain customer service standards by tracking, monitoring and follow-up of customer comments and complaints in a timely efficient manner.
- Provide leadership to employees in the Grocery, GM and HBC to ensure these areas are being operated to company expectations.
- Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) including participate in OH&S activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with OH&S policies, procedures and legislation, assist in identifying unhealthy, unsafe situations and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Liaison within the community as a public relations representative fir the company.
- Provide feedback to Centre Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of operations. Develop and administer action plans to achieve desired results of business plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provide leadership in the areas of employee relations, hiring, training, development, performance management, discipline, recognition, termination, security, union contract compliance, administration of policy and procedures and WCB claims.
- Coordinate yearly performance work plans.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies and Human Resources related information.
- Provide leadership and direction in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.
- Make certain the store adheres to government regulations in the area of labeling, sanitation and food safety.
- Perform or assist with the year end performance reviews and development action plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (includes Education):
- Grade 12 Education.
- Three years’ retail supervisory experience, with a proven track record
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Business-related education
- Experience managing business initiatives including analysis of financial results
- Two years’ retail management experience
