Terraprobe Inc. is looking for an Geotechnical Technician to join our team in Sudbury to provide consulting services to a variety of clients, including private, industry and government sectors.

The Geotechnical Technician will work in the field to get familiar with aspects of geotechnical engineering. The candidate would be exposed to soil sampling protocols. With experience, the candidate would become exposed to field investigations consisting of borehole drilling and test pits.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will support a wide variety of projects in collaboration with the Environmental Team. Your main responsibilities will be

• Soil laboratory testing
• Detailed documentation of field notes
• Experience in the geotechnical field of engineering
• Field work, including soil drilling supervision and soil sampling
• CCIL Asphalt Type B (HMA) certified technician
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle
• Work independently under the Branch Manager
• Interacting and liaising with clients
• Concrete testing/sampling
• 4-5 years experience in a similar field
• CCIL/ CSA certified concrete technician Type Q & Type R
• Tech, C. E. T. designation or must be eligible to register
• Ability to work overtime hours as required to satisfy client demands during peak periods
• Certified Nuclear Density gauge operator (Radsafe Certification & TDGA Training provided)
• Compaction testing using a nuclear gauge

As a Welding Inspector, you will work in collaboration with the Building Science Team. Reporting to the Department Manager in our Brampton Office, the successful candidate will support a wide variety of projects in the Greater Toronto and surrounding area. More specifically, your responsibilities will be, but are not limited to

• Carry out additional duties as assigned
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
• Cooperate with all other disciplines on the project; working closely with the project team
• Organized and project-driven with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• CGSB Level II (MPI, LPI and UT) will be an asset
• Experience with structural steel inspection
• CWB Welding Inspector Level 1 or 2
• Strong verbal communication skills are essential
• Conduct shop inspections and field inspections at various construction sites for buildings and heavy civil projects
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• W47/W59 code endorsements
• Travel and overtime as required
• Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Complete corporate formatted digital inspection reports
• Observe and follow all corporate health and safety requirements
