About The Role
Reporting to the Housekeeping Coordinator, the General Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean working and living environment within the Residence Services complexes. The incumbent will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining all offices, common areas, and hotel rooms throughout the fall term. This position will also be working on our enhanced cleaning protocol and will be sanitizing high touch areas throughout residence.
This position requires the climbing of stairs, walking of long distances between the West and East residences and the incumbent must be able to operate all equipment such as mops, floor scrubber and buffers. The incumbent may be required to work dates outside of the regularly scheduled work week. This is a full-time limited term position. The regular schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm.
Responsibilities

• General cleaning such as sweeping, vacuuming, sanitizing and mopping of all floor surfaces and stairwells, dusting, washing walls, and glass cleaning;
• Working in the laundry room operating the commercial washer, dryer and dishwasher machines and ironing and folding all linen products; and
• Emptying garbage and recycling containers, replenishing paper dispensers, and cleaning all toilet and bathroom fixtures;
• Servicing hotel and student units on check in/out by making beds, cleaning of bedrooms, washrooms, kitchens, and living rooms, ensuring that all amenities are in place and in good working condition;
• Reporting maintenance issues as needed and must clean rooms to standards set by the housekeeping coordinator in a timely manner;
• Clean and organize all houseware kitchen kits and other related items.
• Cleaning common floor surfaces with heavy cleaning equipment and floor scrubbers will be required on a regular basis;
• Sanitizing of high touch areas, including but not limited to, elevator control panels and door handles/entry doors

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent in combination with 18 to 24 months of experience;
• Must be able to physically manage cleaning areas like stairwells.
• Cleaning and hospitality experience is required;
• Must be able to operate cleaning related equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers etc.); and
