Job Description
FPGA/PLD Developer

About The Job

As a valued member of our team, you'll be responsible for capturing, defining, and refining product specifications into device level requirements. Your expertise in functional architecture and justification of derived requirements will play a crucial role in ensuring product success. You'll bring these requirements to life by implementing them into VHDL code, utilizing existing IPs and standard protocols like Omnibus, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, and AMBA.

Simulation and physical integration will be part of your daily tasks, where you'll excel in troubleshooting, debugging, and making design modifications.

Your attention to detail will shine as you perform the seamless integration of your designs into larger scale products and systems. Your dedication to data accuracy will be essential as you create and maintain life cycle data to support the design, implementation, and verification processes. Additionally, you'll play a key role in estimation and planning activities, contributing to the success of our projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (or equivalent) with a focus on Digital Design
  • 5+ years of FPGA / PLD development experience preferably in aerospace, defense or medical product environments using VHDL or similar languages
  • Experience designing and implementing interfaces between digital devices and microcontrollers including communications and data busses, common protocols and error handling
  • Knowledge and experience with DO-254 or similar guidelines for ensuring a safe and rigorous design process

What's in it for you?

  • Comprehensive Health and Dental Benefits
  • Join us in beautiful Peterborough, just 1.5 hours away from Toronto, and enjoy the perks of a smaller town with the support of a larger corporation.
  • Employee Share Purchase Program
  • Opportunities to further your career with excellent Training and Development programs
  • Strong organizational culture, social activities and employee events
  • Global Mobility opportunities and their 342 locations within 30 countries
  • Work in an exciting industry with a company that prioritizes quality and safety
  • Work from home options
  • Its not Toronto. Affordable living, no traffic, less hectic
  • A healthier work life balance with flex-37 hour work weeks and half-day Fridays
  • Employee Recognition and Engagement programs

Additional Considerations:

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the ModelSim toolset for development and verification of VHDL designs
  • A background in embedded control systems, preferably in the aerospace and defense domain, including working knowledge of system interfaces and sensors such as RVDT/LVDT, BLDC motors, Servo Motors, temperature and pressure sensors and ARINC communications. The ability to model and simulate these aspects in a MatLab/Simulink type environment would be an asset.
