To properly prepare, cook, store and serve all menu items featured in the Short Order area of Marketplace Food Court, following established Food Services specifications, while maintaining order and cleanliness throughout the shift.
Preparation of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, mis en place, following all proper food safety and Algonquin College Food Service procedures and policies. Offers exceptional, prompt and friendly service to customers ordering from the counter. As this is a closing position, the employee will ensure all food is properly stored in compliance with the station SOP, and all equipment is properly cleaned.
Duties And Responsibilities
Pre-Service Preparation:

• Ensure all equipment needed for the day is clean and powered on for service;
• Prepares ingredients for a la carte service;
• Transfers required product from storage to the Short Order Area;
• Ensures fridges, freezers and counters are properly stocked.
• Prepares all food required for daily service;

Service And Operation

• Ensures all food items are properly stored during the shift;
• Ensures hot food cabinets and display areas are kept impeccably clean and tidy throughout the shift and all POS material is up to date and in clean condition.
• Ensures proper temperatures are maintained throughout the shift for hot and cold foods;
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment throughout the shift;
• Prepares menu items as ordered by customers and ensures the accurate identification of same;

Equipment Maintenance

• Ensures food dispensers and containers are changed and cleaned daily.
• Keeps glass and counter tops clean and free of debris at all times;
• Reports any deficiencies with equipment to executive chef or sous chef in a timely fashion;
• Cleans and filters deep fryers on a scheduled basis;
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, walls, floors, grills, hoods on a daily basis and participates in quarterly cleaning as scheduled;

Miscellaneous

• Ensure cleanliness of work areas;
• Advise Chef of malfunction equipment;
• Maintain a safe work environment. Report and/or rectify safety hazards.
• Provide customer feedback to executive chef in order to continually improve the service;
• Checks banquet board to keep apprised of functions involving area products;

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively under pressure;
• Secondary School (Grade 12) diploma;
• Ability of providing speedy, efficient, courteous and tactful service;
• Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere;
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task;
• Minimum 1 year experience in a high volume food service related industry;
• Ability to lift, bend, push and pull.

Anticipated Schedule
Monday to Friday 11:30AM to 8:00PM
This is a nine (9) month position with an annual lay off period of up to three (3) months. The position completes a 40-hour work week.
