Here at Planet Fitness we employ 12-15 people at any given time. Because we have a small team, we are often working closely with one another. We see this as a benefit because it creates a family-like environment. No matter what is going on in your week, your team members will be counting on you to be here 100% when your shift starts. We all depend on each other and support each other. You need to be respectful and patient, and you also need to pull your own weight.

We do our best to remember faces, names, what type of tanning, or massage people like. We always deliver our service with a smile, and speak politely! Are you a self-starter?

Because of our small team environment, we rely greatly on each other to take an equal portion of work in order to make sure our club is running smoothly and in sparkling condition at all times. We take pride in our reputation as one of the cleanest gyms in the area. Which means, we need to be self-motivated & create good habits of making sure our cleaning is done daily and thoroughly. If everyone upholds to this standard we should never fall short!

Are you good at switching gears?

Our club is always fluctuating in member & guest traffic. When the traffic slows, you will find yourself cleaning machines, restrooms, & the black card spa, as well as many other small tasks like stocking merchandise, folding t-shirts, and more. But as soon as someone walks in the door your focus has to switch 100% to providing excellent customer service, even if you are behind on other tasks.

Are you comfortable enforcing rules?

We are here to provide a comfortable &, most importantly, non-intimidating environment. In trying to create this environment, we do not allow grunting, dropping of weights, anyone judging one another, and other things that create that type of negative environment. In order to maintain consistency, our awesome staff members need to be willing to approach & confront anyone who is in violation; including people you know well such as regular members and staff members.

Job Summary

The Fitness Trainer will be responsible for running the Planet Fitness group fitness program (PE@PF). This includes assisting new members in the achievement of their fitness goals by designing a simple workout program and instructing them on the proper use of equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Conduct and run the Planet Fitness PE@PF program, including creating and following the schedule.
• Create bi-weekly updates consisting of a variety of exercises.
• Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.
• Assist in front desk related activities including:
• Take prospective members on tours.
• Check members into the system.
• Meet class requirements based on club size and member traffic.
• Consult with members regarding their fitness goals and instruct them on how to properly and safely use the equipment.
• New member sign-up.
• Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevate to Assistant Manager or Manager as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Upbeat and positive attitude.
• Current CPR Certification preferred.
• Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve.
• Punctuality and reliability is a must.
• Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
• We are willing to train on the job for a passionate individual who wants to start a career in fitness training!
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• A passion for fitness and health!
• Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member’s expectations.
• High School diploma/GED equivalent required.
• Nationally Certified Training Certificate required (within first 90 days of hire).

Physical Demands

• Continual standing and walking during shift.
• Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
