TheFire Alarm Technicianis responsible for Working within a team of inspection technicians, your work will help the company to adequately meet its clients’ expectations and you will guarantee them the compliance of their fire systems.


Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, you will be mainly responsible for inspection, service and modification of fire alarm, sprinkler, and special hazards systems. You will also respond to service calls from customers and perform repairs to systems when necessary.

SUPERVISES:Service Technicians, Temporary Service Technicians


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive at all scheduled meetings and appointments on time, in uniform and properly equipped to complete the service work scheduled.
  • Take initiative to communicate with Service Coordination team as to any problems, issues, scheduling conflicts, delays, or unoccupied time.
  • Ensure the best-in-class standard of fire safety system, inspection, and testing to guarantee that reliability and client satisfaction are met.
  • Complete inspection, fire alarm systems & testing of fire protection equipment.
  • Effectively complete daily schedules to best of one’s ability, in a timely fashion.
  • Complete requirements, apply for & maintain validity of ASTTBC or CFAA in all four basic disciplines, as well as any other required certifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective customer communications and to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled while quickly resolving customer concerns, thereby minimizing customer concerns, and enhancing customer relations.
  • Willingness to perform site-specific training for owners and end users.
  • Perform basic services: fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency lights and adhering to the ASTTBC regulations, BC Fire Code and Municipality guidelines.
  • Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork or electronic submissions daily.
  • As member of the emergency response team, respond to fires, fire alarm activations, fire alarm trouble conditions, hazardous material spills, gas leaks and other emergencies.
  • Fulfill on-call duties as required.
  • Complete work orders and reports in a timely fashion.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on things like fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting systems.
  • Safely operate company-issued vehicle within lower mainland, adhering to company policy, and take responsibility for maintenance of vehicle, as outlined in vehicle policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lead and supervise team of technicians in the field.
  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports
  • Provide effective communication of necessary repairs and recommendations for service accounts.
  • Submit your work hours daily via our system, including a brief overview of the work completed at each job site.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office (primarily Excel and Outlook) and CAD software, some programming experience would be useful.
  • Familiar and follows Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising on service calls, including emergency calls.
  • Test, repair, and service a variety of fire alarm systems and equipment.


·A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Must possess a valid and clean motor vehicle license.
  • Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 70lbs and climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with extinguishers, emergency lighting and sprinkler inspections is an asset.
  • Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification or comparable demonstrated trade qualification and /or ASTT certification.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel is an asset.
  • 5 years or more of experience as a Service Technician within the Fire Alarm industry


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • ASTT Certificate Stamp for Inspections and testing, or CFAA
  • Fire Alarm Technicianmust valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, friendly and customer focused.
  • Fire alarm certification or expertise in other systems can be an asset. We have training available on other systems.

Hours/Schedule:

Regular Full-Time 40 hours weekly - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

May include weekends and holidays.


PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Fire Alarm Technicianis by no means an entry level position. Rather, candidates should have more than 5 years of professional experience.Valid driver’s license; possess and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to travel up to 25% of time throughout market of operation (reimbursement available for mileage and some costs related to use of personal vehicle).
