Some Of The Additional Expectations Of This Role Include


As our Fire Alarm Technician, they will be responsible for a wide variety of in-field fire services such as installing, inspecting, maintaining, modifying, programming, and servicing fire alarm and fire protection systems.


  • Participating in 24/7 on-call/call out emergency service.
  • Mentoring other team members including apprentices and field service labour; and
  • Evaluating plans, customer requests, code, and non-conformance issues to determine specific solutions and recommendations for customers and management;
  • Completing daily reports of completed work orders and activities;
  • Ensuring safe work practices are followed safety leadership is demonstrated in all aspects of the job;
  • Trouble shooting - conducting investigations of various fire alarm, fire suppression and sprinkler systems troubles and concerns;
  • Racking up panels, running wiring / cabling, installing devices and conduit;
  • Preparing stock materials for daily execution of assigned work orders and optimizing material utilization;
  • Supporting take off’s and preparing proposals/quotations as required;
  • Working with Emergency Lighting, and Monitoring Systems;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals;


The successful candidate must be a professional, highly motivated, self-starter with a keen attention to detail and the ability to safely execute high quality work on-time, every time. They will bring with them strong communication and customer service skills, with an ability to work both collaboratively with team members, as well as independently, to deliver high quality service and support to our customers. Given the service and solutions focus of our business, they will also be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to address changing situations and priorities. Knowledge of relevant fire codes and standards; demonstrated mindset towards continuous learning, as well as an ability to use/learn technology solutions in the execution of their work is a must. Completed training in various fire alarm systems (e.g. Siemens, Autocall, Simplex, Edwards and Notifier) would be an asset. They must also possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to and work out of remote client sites. Overtime may be necessary; therefore, flexibility in hours of work will be required.


A candidate with a minimum of 2+ years’ field experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems across various industries and college/trade level education in Electronics or Fire Protection Technology, along with applicable fire service certifications, jurisdictional regulatory permits, and/or valid CFAA and ASTTBC would be preferred. Combinations of education in a related field and experience will be considered.
