Field Technician Jobs

The position of Environmental Field Technician is critically important, as the successful candidate will directly control water remediation, equipment maintenance and installation delivered by our company. The incumbent must be 100% dedicated to providing the very best in customer care and attention to detail.

To analyze bodies of water, install systems, apply remediation treatments and maintain systems. Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. Candidate must be willing to learn about aquatic ecosystems. Record keeping and report writing are a must—ability and desire to work and learn about nutrients and aquatic species and analyze the surroundings.

You will report to the Environmental Operations Manager. You will work as a team and work independently at times. And you will, for sure, be expected to bring new ideas to the table.

Job Specifications- Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs)

• Installing aeration and other technologies
• Boat operation on small ponds
• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs
• Run Laboratory tests
• Applying environmentally friendly treatments
• Report writing and record-keeping
• Performing any other tasks required by the Manager
• General duties – organizing stock and tools, warehouse organization, weeding
• Maintaining systems
• Assessing bodies of water- samples, examining aquatic weeds, invertebrates, algae and ecosystems
• Comply with all safety regulations and report any hazards to the proper authority

Responsibilities

50% - Maintaining systems and applying environmentally friendly treatments

20% - Assessing bodies of water- samples, examining aquatic weeds and ecosystem

15% - Report writing and record keeping. General duties – weeding, pond cleaning, organizing stock and tools

5% - Installing aeration and other technologies & member of the safety team

5%- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Naturally friendly communicator with the ability to speak with stakeholders
• Enjoy working outdoors
• Must be capable of lifting 50-75 lbs
• Enthusiasm and the ability to dedicate high energy to job-related duties are required.
• Must be able to demonstrate patience and perseverance and embrace change when it occurs
• Must be alert and resourceful and be able to interact with a cross-section of individuals
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
• Along with a strong working knowledge of customer care, you must have a personal desire to set and achieve personal and team goals.
• An ability to produce meaningful concise reports and record accurate data
• Demonstrated proficiency in written/oral communication (writing, editing, formatting) in the English language
• Must have a high degree of computer literacy in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, QuickBooks and PowerPoint)

Credentials and Experience

• High School Diploma or enrolled in Enviro Sciences, Science, Biology, Agriculture or Engineering
• Farm background an asset
• A clean driving record required
• Interest in science and water remediation
• First aid/CPR training required
• A boat operators license required
