Field Safety Advisor


Irving Equipment Limited is a well-established Heavy Lift and Specialized Transport company with a diverse fleet of mobile and crawler cranes, SPMTs, and other specialized transport and lifting equipment with locations in Saint John, New Brunswick, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and several other branches around Atlantic Canada.

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Field Safety Advisor to join our fast-paced, dynamic team in Saint John, New Brunswick.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and maintain the various health and safety programs including, but not limited to; Compliance Audits, Safety Meetings, Toolbox talks, etc.
  • Create and coordinate the implementation of policies and procedures related to health and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Proactively educate and coach on safe work behaviors.
  • Improve safety key performance indicators (KPI) statistics, analyze information and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Management and Operations to establish a strong safety culture focused on prevention and leading indicator activities through coaching in the field.
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSCs)
  • Educate employees and managers about good practices in occupational health and safety.
  • Have a strong presence in the field to maintain a culture focused on prevention and leading indicator activities.
  • Participate in and at times lead investigations related to incidents, and ensure that corrective actions are tracked, communicated and implemented.


Qualifications


  • Possess post-secondary education in Safety or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office skills required
  • Experience leading a change within an organization.
  • Experience and knowledge in construction, heavy lift and heavy haul would be an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit sites in Atlantic Provinces.
  • Change Management experience is an asset.
  • 2 or more years' experience in a position related to Occupational Health and Safety in a related field
  • Completion of, or commitment to complete, New Brunswick Construction Safety Association's COR Training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations in Atlantic Provinces
  • Demonstrated experience in creation, education and implementation of safety training and programs.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
