THE ROLE


The Executive Director (ED) – Army Ball will plan, manage and coordinate the execution of the Canadian Army Ball on behalf of the Commander of the Canadian Army (CCA). With preparation beginning in September and culminating in April with the Event, the ED will secure venue, equipment, and participation of external stakeholders, prepare the budget, and coordinate the sale of tickets, invitations to VIP, event set-up and practices. Throughout the process, the ED will prepare and deliver briefings to Executive and Senior Officers, such as but not limited toCCA and conduct Steering Committees with members of the Canadian Army Staff.The ED will be in charge of the coordination of all Army resources, preparation and promulgation of administrative instructions, event and hospitality request. The incumbent will act as the primary point of contact for the Army Ball and will prepare a strategic engagement plan in order to gain maximum benefit from key public and corporate appearances at the Army Ball. The ED will manage and develop the Army Ball marketing and communications strategies, including but not limited to the use of websites and social media sites to promote the Army Ball and will provide advice and guidance to Executives and Senior Officers on Army Ball activities.


Qualifications Needed


Education, Certifications and Licenses


College diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Communications in a related field AND several years of experience in event planning, finance/accounting, communications, fundraising, sponsorship, marketing or a related field


Experience


In planning, managing and executing multi-faceted events


In drafting, applying and interpreting policies, procedures and regulations


In office administration


In planning, organizing and managing programs and projects


In drafting correspondence, contracts and reports


In research and data analysis


In budget administration


In creating military style shows and ceremonies, an asset


Competencies, Skills And Abilities


Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.


Language Requirements


English or French Essential


Bilingual an asset


Reading: Advanced


Writing: Functional


Oral: Advanced

  • This position has an assigned location and may allow flexible work options such as remote or hybrid work but the employee must be able to report to the assigned work location at their own cost if required. Remote work may be required depending on health and safety considerations.
