The Technician is responsible for the handling, consolidating and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the Processing Facilities. The Technician must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.

GFL Environmental is looking for energetic, entry level or experienced folks to join our growing, DELTA and Surrey, BC Locations!
This is a fulltime, permanent role in the warehouse (facility). The ideal candidate will have some experience operating Forklift, Skidsteer or Excavator. If not, we are willing to train!
Long term opportunities include: Employer paid Class 1 or Class 3 Driving School, Forklift Certification, Heavy Equipment Training.
Key Responsibilities:

• Complete job hazard risk assessments
• Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner
• Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times
• Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers
• General shop clean up and maintenance
• Other miscellaneous tasks as required
• Promote a safety culture with all employees
• Complete paperwork properly & ensure it is submitted
• Operation of processing machinery and equipment as required
• Ensure superior customer service is provided
• Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocol

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent communication skills
• Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on cement for extended periods of time
• Planning and organizational skills
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Able to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks
