We are looking for an experienced and high-performing person to join our Data Centre team as a Structure Cable Engineer. This technical leadership role is responsible for providing the physical infrastructure support and critical room design based on IT requirements for our raise floor environment.
What will you do?

• Maintain documentation, including but not limited to rack allocation and elevation drawings and layouts.
• Mentor and support colleagues in their capabilities
• Execute IT cabling requests as part of a planned MACD (Move, Add, Change and Delete) within the identified focus sites, and in alignment with the physical infrastructure standards.
• Build and manage effective working relationships with other departments, leaders as well as key business partners within Corporate Real Estate and Physical Security and Crisis, ensuring all key partners are engaged
• Ensure strict compliance of security and change management directives
• Providing oversight and direction to 3rd party COMMs Engineer ensuring that COMMs engineer is aware of standards, requirements and processes based on internal roles and responsibilities
• Provide leadership on the design of the physical infrastructure standards, procedures and process flows for our raised floor environments.

What do you need to succeed?

• Advanced understanding of the Enterprise Infrastructure hardware and network technology infrastructure
• Significant experience with computer operations processes
• Strong understanding of risk management and site contingency
• Advanced knowledge on regulatory requirements, process management, and operational process improvement
• Approximately 10+ years’ experience in large-scale IT operations environments
• Solid understanding of ITIL processes
• Strong understanding of physical computer room security practices
• Advanced ability to develop and present Cost Benefit Analysis proposals based on Best Practices recommendations
• Solid knowledge of computer room hardware management best practices
• University degree or equivalent, in statistics or mathematics

Unique Requirements:

• This position requires some after hours support for implementation activities.
• This role requires Canadian Enhanced Reliability Security clearance [a minimum of 5 years of consecutive residency in Canada].

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
