Job Description

Be part of the transition towards low-carbon construction!

Are you convinced that buildings are part of the problem… but also part of the solution? Do you want to accelerate meaningful climate action in the construction sector? If so, this could be for you! Join Carbon Wise and help solve one of the world’s biggest challenges – decarbonizing buildings and construction.

Who we are

At Carbon Wise, we have a wild dream: “Advancing low-carbon construction to make carbon-negative buildings a mainstream practice.”

How do we get there, you ask?

Achieving net-zero emissions in the housing sector requires addressing both Operational and Embodied Emissions at once. Carbon Wise is the first consultant in BC to offer both Energy Efficiency services and Whole-building Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), taking into account the synergies between the two.

What if you joined us in pioneering the buildings of the future?

We are looking for an Energy and Carbon Advisor to join our small but mighty team.

We're not just a Benefit Company; we're a trailblazing force that lives and breathes these values:

  • Passionate collaboration – We listen with curiosity to draw on the strength of people and to bring meaningful strategy and ideas to the team vs. “just following directions.”
  • Impact – We are fully engaged and strive to have a positive impact. For example, you won’t hear us saying things like, “It’s not my job”, “It’s not my problem” or “I don’t care,” or showing up in a way that indicates that we don’t care or that we’re unwilling to own problems.
  • Integrity – We choose to do what is right over what is fast, fun, easy, or comfortable. We cherish diversity, sustainability, and straightforwardness.

Position type

Full-time position

Salary: In the range of $62,000 - $70,000 to be negotiated based on experience/skills below

Remote position (Lower Mainland) in a central location to commute to job sites

Start date: October 2023

What you'll do

  • Training and Awareness: Conduct workshops and training sessions to raise awareness about energy conservation and carbon reduction for industry stakeholders and local governments (i.e. Builders’ breakfasts).
  • 5-star Customer Service: Work with clients throughout the modelling and testing process to ensure an excellent customer experience. We only aim for 5-star reviews!
  • Client Education: Empower clients with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about energy and carbon management.
  • Research and Writing: Not everybody is as nerdy as us and you should be able to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders in writing (i.e. blog posts, case studies).
  • Data Analysis: Skillfully analyze energy consumption data to identify patterns, trends, and potential areas for optimization.
  • Site Testing: Perform blower door airtightness tests for both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings.
  • Recommendation Formulation: Craft personalized strategies and actionable recommendations to minimize carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency.
  • Modelling: Perform exemplary energy and carbon modelling for various energy compliance for both new and existing homes as per our service offerings.
  • Policy Compliance: Keep abreast of energy and embodied carbon regulations and ensure the company's operations align with the latest sustainability standards.
