Electrical Design Engineer Now Hiring!

Adecco is currently hiring a permanent full-time Electrical Design Engineer to work for a leader in the Engineering industry in Ottawa, ON. In this role you will be responsible for preparing drawings using office CAD system and preparing design and layout with project documentation. This role requires good communication and leadership skills with minimum 1 year expereince with CAD.Word processor, spreadsheet and electrical design software knowledge and experience is also required for this role. • Job type: Permanent | Full-time
• Shifts: Monday to Friday | 8:00AM - 5:00 PM
• Location: Ottawa, ON

Responsibilities:

• Participate in maintaining firm's quality standard.
• Liaison with client & other consultants to determine project's scope, under supervision of senior Engineer/Designer.
• Document and communicate project's scope to in-house design team members.
• Prepare drawings using office CAD system.
• Coordinate with client, architect, interior designer and other consultants.
• Perform load calculations.
• Prepare detailed design layout.
• Manage/coordinate multiple projects.
• Obtain stamp and signature from signing engineer.
• Review project documentation.
• Coordinate electrical requirements with senior mechanical Engineer/Designer.
• Assist senior to monitor and control in-house costs and compare to project budget.
• Construction administration and site review.
• Participate in design review meetings.
• Respect project schedule.
• Ensure plans and specifications conform to applicable codes, good engineering practice and project scope.

Requirements:
Problem solving and critical thinking abilities

• Coordinate electrical system layout with mechanical department and external consultants.
• Apply electrical engineering theory and adhere to codes.
• Address conditions encountered on-site.

Knowledge of building codes

• Ontario Fire Code
• National and Ontario Hydro Electrical Codes & Bulletins
• Model National Energy Code for Buildings
• Ontario Building Code
• National Building Code
• ASHRAE 90.1

Knowledge of design practices & norms

• Design drafting and specification writing practices
• I.E.S. Recommended Practices
• Minimum 1 year expereince with CAD
• Good leadership skills
• Good communication skills both verbal and written
• National Fire Protection Association
• Word processor, spreadsheet and electrical design software experience and knowledge
• Construction costs in both time and capital
• C.S.A. Standards
• Construction methods/techniques
• Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
• Electrical systems
