Job Description
Adecco is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to work at our client, a reputable chemical company in Port Moody, BC. The EHS Manager is a "hands-on" individual who provides expertise and program development in the areas of regulatory compliance, occupational health & safety, environmental and process safety management as well as industrial hygiene. This position will work in conjunction with local facility personnel as well as Corporate EHS to implement processes and programs to continually improve the site's EHS performance.   • Process safety regulation awareness is also desired, but, not necessary
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis tools is required, Frontline Data Solutions MOC knowledge is a plus
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Environmental or equivalent is required
  • Managing air quality, including coordinating emission testing and completion of Metro Vancouver required annual and quarterly reporting; National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting
  • Implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving occupational safety through conducting risk assessments, inspections, job safety analysis, etc
  • Shifts: Monday - Friday
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook knowledge is required; SAP is a plus
  • Implementing measures which meet the intent of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 and Pollution Prevention, hazardous/ non-hazardous waste management ensuring waste is handled/disposed within all British Columbia Ministry of Environment regulatory requirements
  • Acting as the diplomatic liaison between the facility and the various external EHS regulatory agencies
  • Responsible for employee safety training and certification as required; and participates on the facility's safety committee

  • Ensuring that the requirements of Spill Control and Drainage Systems/Secondary Containment for Aboveground Storage Tanks are being met
  • Pay Rate: $100k - $110k/ year
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial for success in this role
  • Developing/implementing Environmental Emergency Plans pursuant to Environment Canada requirements
  • Developing, implementing, and continuously improving the critical life safety as well as other health & safety compliance programs, policies, and procedures
  • Assisting with the operation of the wastewater facility including the sampling and reporting of results to Metro Vancouver
  • Developing and implementing the facility's process safety management program
  • Facilitating incident investigations, tracking investigation action items to closure and taking a "hands-on" approach to serve as a "champion" providing leadership to improve the facility's EHS performance Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Health Canada, Metro Vancouver, BC Ministry of the Environmental and Environment Canada regulation knowledge is essential
