Frozen Solid Ltd. is seeking a motivated Dispatch Team Lead with integrity, customer-centric values, and the ability to be on-site for 8 hours Monday to Friday. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role will focus on leadership, training, coaching, and support of the Dispatch Team and providing extensive expertise in trucking and logistics dispatch. The Dispatcher Team Lead will also be responsible for coordinating the team's inner workings and staying up to date with Federal Labor Code and new and existing commercial transportation procedures.
Responsibilities:
Dispatch Office Coordination:
- Offer relief support for vacations, leaves, or illnesses.
- Coordinate and schedule the hours of the dispatch team, using delegation techniques to ensure the effective operations of the dispatch office.
- Operate computer-aided Transportation Management Software and dispatching equipment.
- Proactively promote effective communications between the dispatch office and all other departments.
Scheduling and Workload Management:
- Optimize the utilization of personnel and equipment through efficient monitoring of their location and availability.
- Recognize and coach Drivers and Dispatchers for outstanding service, or opportunities for improvement.
- Dispatch drivers and equipment to uphold high standards of customer service and maintain customer and driver satisfaction.
- Assign trips in compliance with government regulations and company policies.
- Provide drivers with comprehensive information about each trip, including unfamiliar facilities, routes, procedures, and other potential hazards, to prevent accidents and product claims.
- Maximize driver profitability by managing hours of service, and minimizing empty miles through strategic dispatch techniques.
- Schedule equipment and drivers for daily workload and appointments.
- Ensure adequate service levels during peak times and holidays while distributing the workload fairly based on demand, capability, availability, and seniority.
Customer Relations:
- Courteously accept customer product claims and promptly direct them to the Operations Supervisor for handling, while also being knowledgeable about the details of the resulting settlement or disposition.
- Using Telematics systems, monitor all trip details to be able to inform the customer of any unexpected circumstances which may affect completion of the trip as scheduled.
- Conduct liaison with customers in a friendly and businesslike manner to obtain complete instructions when taking email orders.
Communication and Miscellaneous:
- Support Dispatch staff as needed, and generate ideas for overall efficiencies, system changes, and policy changes.
- Collaborate with Safety and Fleet Assets Officer to ensure equipment availability for maintenance and inspections, and advise drivers of traffic, weather, and other problems.
- Ensure effective communication with Edmonton, Lethbridge, and warehouse workers to prevent missed pickups or deliveries and update freight movements.
- Handle all phone calls, emails, and follow-ups related to 5 Ton deliveries, pickup, and delivery issues.
- Sort, confirm, and complete POD and paperwork for invoicing, ensuring no missing POD's or incomplete paperwork.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Time management to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 2+ (two) years of leadership experience required.
- Intermediate to expert computer skills.
- Working knowledge of hauled products, regulations, and temperature requirements.
- Familiarity with highway trucking and associated rules and regulations.
- 2+ (two) years of Logistics dispatch and route planning experience required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education is an asset).
- Clean driving record.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $25.00 - $29.34/hour with 2 weeks' Vacation and an Employee Health Benefits plan.

Salary: $52,000.00-$61,027.20 per year
