Senior Dispatcher
Borger Group of Companies–Calgary, AB
Borger Group of Companies is now hiring a Senior Dispatcher. The successful candidate will manage the inflow of move requests to utilize drivers and equipment in an efficient and lucrative manner. Track all duties of drivers and manage their use of time accordingly and within the federal regulations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maximizing driver productivity
- Meeting internal & external client schedules
- Understanding of trailers and combinations up to 76 wheel. Cozad and K-line experience an asset.
- Reconciling truck tickets & accurate billing client to client
- Management of driver files
- Providing quotes
- Participate in the health and safety program.
- Permitting of overweight over dimensional loads within Alberta and B.C
- Able to dispatch/supervise heavy haul equipment
- Understanding of Federal, Provincial and all NSC standards.
- Supervisor of 15 people
·Dispatcher MUST be able to answer and return all company call promptly with professionalism and courtesy 24 hours a day, 6 days a week while you are on call. It is your responsibility to make prior arrangements if you have other commitments.
·Work closely with customers to get the scope of the job , pay very close attention, and accurately record all details pertaining to the job. Recommend and decide upon optimal transportation modes, routing and equipment. On larger projects, work with management for planning strategy.
·Organize, schedule, acquire permits, and dispatch appropriate people and equipment to meet customer timelines and specific needs.
·Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and team members, and maintain these relationships over time.
·Required to accurately track all equipment, people, material, permits and associated costs with ongoing jobs.
·Record every detail pertaining to the entire daily operations in the company ledger. Phone numbers, site locations, directions, equipment, personnel, etc. Efficiencies/deficiencies, problems with customers/employees, unsatisfied customer/happy customer.
·Report directly in confidence to senior management with any employee insubordination, unforeseen incidents or issues, keep records of such.
·Ensure compliance with company policies or procedures for daily logistics.
·Notify customer with any non-compliant issues regarding their cargo.
·Analyze all aspects of logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of proper utilization of company equipment and people.
·Approval from senior management is required before any job is turned down.
·Organize, plan, and prioritize work; develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work.
·Manage timelines for equipment repairs both in regards to timelines for equipment repairs and timelines as well as transport repairs and timelines.
·Approve employee’s time whilst creating invoices that will be sent of the accounting daily.
·Co-ordinate with maintenance personnel for upcoming requirements. (including cleaning) and service scheduling of company fleet.
·Attend and participate in company safety meetings.
Mentoring
·Be an example for other Team Members in regards to Safety, Policies and Procedures.
·Provide training, support and share knowledge of best practices with others to contribute to efficiencies.
Operational
·Strategically plan routes and schedule moves in an efficient manner.
Relationships
·Build and maintain respectful, professional relationships with all Team Members, Vendors and Contractors.
Meeting Obligations
·Attend and conduct weekly Health and Safety Meetings.
·Engage staff to participate in discussion regarding Safety and become part of the solution.

Job Requirements:
- Patience and works well with others
- Strong computer skills - custom in house tracking program
- Minimum 2 Years Construction/Oilfield transportation experience.
- Strong safety background
- Due to the nature of our industry, weekend availability and being on-call during evenings is to be expected.
- Class 1 an asset but not required.
- 6+ year’s experience within the heavy haul industry driving or supervising.
- Strong communication skills
