- Play an active leadership role across the wider team in the establishment of a positive and engaged team culture.
- Build and maintain long term relationships with Real Estate clients to cement lasting relationships, to access business opportunities in all parts of the clients' company throughout the life cycle.
- Act as a mentor and play a key role in the ongoing development of more junior team members.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with counterparts at other financial institutions to facilitate syndicated or other shared lending projects.
- Respond and follow-up on opportunities generated and referred from other ATB sources of referrals.
- Meet or exceed goals and targets related to growth or maintenance of their assigned portfolio, including profitability goals and targets.
- Establish and enhance ATB's presence and profile in the market area by participating in business and community activities.
- Actively participate and or lead sales team meetings, sharing successes, best practices and other information with the team.
- Manage relationships with internal business partners including Credit, Cash Management, Treasury, Derivatives etc.
- Regularly meet with clients, prospects and centers of influence, spending a majority of your time enhancing relationships.
- Maintain a centre of influence calling effort in order to advance business opportunities and ATB's reputation with key sources of new client referrals, including industry associations, private equity firms, accountants, lawyers, etc.
- Ensure credit decisions/recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures.
- Maintain a constant pipeline of business consisting of new prospects, deals in various stages of negotiations, and business that will close within a short timeframe. Prepare and provide detailed monthly pipeline deal reports.
- Analyze and negotiate customer deals to ensure profitability of the relationship.
- Analyze client files for existing relationships and opportunities to maximize the relationship through new loan, mortgage, payroll, card, cash management, wealth management, derivatives and deposit gathering business.
- Work closely with our business partners in ATB Capital Markets to mutually advance business opportunities between ATB Capital Markets and ATB Business.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, prospects, internal contacts, and associates.
- Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as the situation requires.
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills; strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels throughout the organization.
- Proven ability and success in maintaining an active sales pipeline, generating new business and meeting growth targets.
- Commercial/corporate lending experience at a senior level including complex lending with direct experience in an origination role is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of syndications in both a leadership and participant role.
- In depth experience and understanding of corporate finance, credit structures and credit agreements.
- MBA, CFA or accounting designation would be considered a strong asset.
- Business or marketing related degree or diploma with related experience.
- Proven ability to produce effective results while working independently with limited supervision, but also be an effective team member.
- A strong understanding of, and experience working in, the Real Estate sector and Real Estate lending would be an asset.
